Standard amsul prices softened to $330-350/t fob China, owing to lower netback indications from southeast Asia. But fresh activity was thin with the national holiday at the start of the week and spot availability was limited for the pockets of prompt demand.
Granular and compacted amsul prices widened to $390-410/t fob China, framed by netback indications to Latin America.
There was a freight enquiry circulating for 28,000t of compacted or granular amsul to load in Tianjin on 26-30 April for shipment to Australia.
A producer in Hebei is offering compacted amsul at $370/t fob.
Domestic
Domestic trade was slow. A producer in Shandong offered caprolactam-grade standard amsul at Yn1,960/t ex-works for bulk cargoes, compared to Yn2,000/t ex-works last week. In Shanxi, the price of steel-grade amsul fell to Yn1,550- 1,650/t ex-works, compared to Yn1,700-1,730/t ex-works last week.
Southeast Asia
There was limited demand in southeast Asia, with bids in Thailand, the main in-season market, down to $355/t cfr Thailand.
Freight for 10,000-12,000t vessels was quoted in the mid- $50s/t from Chinese river ports to Thailand, rising to the mid-$60s/t for 6,000t vessels.
Philippines
Atlas issued another tender to buy 6,000-8,000t of standard amsul for April shipment to Sangi, with delivery required by 7 May. The tender was awarded in the high-$370/t cfr, traders said, down around $15-20/t on its last tender awarded last week.
Atlas issued a further tender for 8,000t to Sangi for delivery by 15 May.
Freight from China to the Philippines was quoted at around $50/t.
Indonesia
Indonesia's amsul exports fell by nearly 56.5pc to 131,000t for the first two months of the year, latest trade data show. China was the sole supplier to Indonesia for the first two months of the year. Indonesia's imports from China totalled 130,000t, lower by nearly 54pc on the year. Brazil
Compacted and granular amsul prices narrowed, owing to limited fresh demand as the market entered its off-season. A trader sold 5,000t of Chinese compacted amsul at $485- 495/t cfr Brazil from a floating cargo.
Standard amsul prices were soft-to-stable, framed by sales at $435-450/t cfr Brazil and softer offers at $430/t cfr Brazil for May shipment.
